For at least a year now, I have been convinced that social media needs to change. The business model of tracking us around the internet and then serving us ads was always going to be short-lived.

But how would social media change? Pay you for your data. Every like, share and post tells the social media platforms more about us. These platforms make vast sums of money from this data, and we make nothing. If someone turned up with a platform that would allow users to earn money for our data, would we use it?

Well, one of these platforms has arrived — Bitclout. I have been using Bitclout for about a week, and I will admit I like it. It has an effortless feel to it, yet, don’t let that fool you. Underneath it has some very clever tech. Bitclout allows users to create their own cryptocurrency. Fans can buy these coins to support the users content. And you don’t need to worry about being code. The software will create it for you.

Currently, there doesn’t appear to be any paid content on the service yet. In time this will change.

Crypto is a hot topic right now, and everyone is trying to get into the game. So why not take up a new platform that will reward you for your content? Building your own cryptocurrency in the process.

Over time Bitclout will improve, or someone else will turn up with a better product. Until then, enjoy it for what it is and create content that offers value to people. In return, they will buy your coin.
